Default front leafspring

installing a lift on my jeep and the front leafspring bolt wont start. It seems that the beginning threads might have came out with the bolt the rest of the threads r fine but i cant get it to start. wondering if i should get a tap or just cut a hole and knock the nut off and weld a new nutplate inside ?

just get a tap and retap the hole. I wouldn't go through the trouble of knocking the nut off and welding in a new one unless there was a safety concern.
