Default Front drive-shaft too short in the back...

This was my FINAL step after a 5 month build. I was gonna bolt up the drive shaft and finally drive her out of the garage! NOPE!!! Murphy must have been waiting for me all day!

I bolted up the joint at the TC and then went to bolt up the DS to the differential but the u-joint ends were 1/8" short from seating in the saddle.

I have a 5 inch lift with the Peugeot tranny, NP-231 w/Advance Adapters SYE, and a Chry 8.25. I thought that maybe the Puegot was shorter than the AX-15 tranny, but according to Novak Conversions its actually 3/8" longer.

I found plenty of threads where people have identical setups (even higher lifts) and the stock front DS works fine. What am I missing?

I've been Googling other DS options, but apparently you either run a stock front DS (if it fits) or have a custom DS made.
Anyone know of any other shafts that may fit??

Thanks!

Tap the drive shaft yoke with a mallet to extend it a little bit.

Ok. More Google searching and I found this pic.

I didn't know that there were different DS sizes. Back to the pick-n-pull I go...... Well, what is the ballpark price for having a DS lengthened?

I've had DS's lengthened, balanced, painted, and new u-joints installed on them for around $250 with tax. Should be about the same or less.

WOW! I wasn't expecting it would be that expensive. Might as well buy a brand new one for $275. Of course I don't need the paint or u-joints, just extend and balance. Thanks.

From what I could find there's only about 3 inches of extension. If I tap on the yoke won't the yoke separate from the driveshaft? If not, how much more extension are we talking about? I still have to have enough to wheel it!

Post a pic of the drive shaft installed, or as close to installed as you can get.

It was worth it to me not to have to deal with the u joints. Keep in mind good u joints can run $25+ each.

True. The price just surprised me. If I have to get a stretch, I'm hoping for less than $150.

Sorry it took so long. Saturday morning baseball games and such.

Here are the pics. They're self explanatory.

That'll work fine. Tighten the bolts and run it.

You need a 95-96 zj v8 front drive shaft. Thats what i had to use. Its about 3 inches longer and works great with my 8.25 231 combination at 3.5 inches. Its almost too long but the xj ones were too short.
