Default Front drive shaft loose side to side

When I grab the front drive shaft and rotate it by hand side to side ( think spinning it) it has some slop in it. Not loose left to right, but like pinion to ring slop. It also click when the tires are rotated ( Jeep on a. Automotive lift, in the air) freely. Now could the clicking be the Spartan locker in it? Its a Dana 30 HP.

I wondered the same thing about the slop. Compared it to about 3 of my friends lifted jeeps and about 20 at work and they all did it. I'm not worried about it hah

there will be a slight amount of play (very slight) but if its got some slop like your getting hours out of the clock when spinning it if you know what i mean then you've got some problems

is it in the drive shaft or is it actually in the pinion? is the pinion and yoke moving? my 30 has a lot of slop and whines and my yoke moves. im rebuilding it here soon.

Umm all I know is I can rotate the driveshaft clock and counter wise and I can feel it knocking around. I put it in 4 hi and lo and didn't hear any clanking etc. Is there anyway to check if it is actually engaging or maybe its the xfer case? Again no odd noises though....
