Default Front door inside plastic speaker cover question

I F'd up and cut out the part of the door insulation that's supposed to cover the back of the speakers. Will the speakers be susceptible to water now?

I'm pretty sure that's sound deadening mat. I don't think it weatherproofs the speaker or door parts. You could try taping the cut piece back in or check Crutchfields

I hope not. What does keep water out of the door insides when you roll down a wet window?

most of it is supposed to be rubbed off by the outer seam between the door skin and glass. but what does enter the door runs out the bottom threw some vent holes.

Quite a bit of water does get in the doors, that is why there are drain holes at the bottom. I would put some sort of rain guard over the backs of the speakers just in case.

I pulled the door panels today and cut a couple of 6" square pieces of visqueen, pulled the speakers and taped it to the door and draped behind them. I looked at the Crutchfield site and those covers they sell would be great but about 4 reviews said they noticed a big loss in bass and I didn't want to lose what little I have with these little speakers.
