Default Front Brakes Upgrades

I've got a 99 Xj with D30, 15" rims, 33's. I replaced the stock rotors with these drilled ones. Turns out I dislike them. Wondering if there is a "Ultimate" brake upgrade. Or the "best" combination of rotor and brake pad for the front end? I'd even consider a better caliper if there is one. Anything to make braking better.
I've used Frozen rotors before. But not on a XJ. They worked really well. But that's on BMW's and Honda's.
Thanks for any input.

Not much in the ways of brake upgrades without spendingsome serious coin. Look up WJ brake upgrades.

No aftermarket calipers other then OEM replacements. I would ditch the drilled rotors and grab a set of slotted. I have had good luck with EBC Green stuff pads.

That's what I was kinda thinking. Just thought there might be some hope.
I'm not afraid of spending serious coin. But with some of these brake upgrade kits. You need 16" or larger rims. I'm not switching out rims. These are still pretty clean and new.
I'll look into the differences between the XJ and WJ brakes. See if it's worth it. Otherwise I'll just stick to frozen rotor slotted and some killer brake pads.

Hawk HPS pads are awesome. I use them on my car and they have noticeably more stopping power than OE pads. Drilled rotors are a waste and more prone to cracking.

With the pads, proper break in crucial. Here's a great tech article explaining brake issues and proper brake in. Helped me

Napa HD rotors work real well too. Have 5X the run out resistance of normal rotors and are guaranteed from "warping". I had used EBC rotors on my car and they were great, lasted around 90K miles. Wasn't fond of the Green Stuff pads.

I was a noob and put new brakes on mine before I knew better. Im waiting till spring to change them again but I plan on running EBC USR906 rotors.

One thing I was uncertain of. Was whether or not if the stock XJ calipers were single piston calipers. Sure enough. They are only single. That's a shame.

Single piston. Thats why guys go with the WJ brakes, they use a two piston caliper. If I had more money then I could spend I would fab custom knuckles for four piston brembo's and 13" rotors. With that I could probably get the XJ to do nose wheelies!
