I have a 1996 grand cherokee laredo 5.2 v8. Im having a problem when i come to almost a complete stop the brake pedal goes down some then i hear a humming motor sound then it pulls to the left. otherwise the brakes work great,it only happens when almost at a complete stop. have 4 new tires, brakes are new. could it be the speed sensor, right brake caliper? any help is appreciated, thank you.

Wrong section.
Anyways, i would say the ABS system is trying to kill you. My '92 did the same thing, pulled the fuse for the ABS system and it's been fine ever since.

I never did figure out what was wrong with mine, either a short circuit somewhere or a bad sensor in one of the axles. Thing leaks like a B-word so i plan on replacing the whole system anyways.

UPDATE I pulled the abs pump relay and now the brakes work great. (the abs light is on now) Do you think the pump is causing the problem or caliper.

Pulling the relay you deactivated the ABS.. your running on normal brakes by default.

The issue was not the caliper.

If you say it was not the caliper then what else might it be. abs pump, speed sensor,? As i stated before it only pulls when almost at a complete stop, you hear a motor hum then it pulls left. pulled relay and brakes work as they should (yes I know the abs is off as i removed the relay) Im trying to find the actual problem so i can fix it and put the abs relay back in,thank you.

Best thing to do....put the fuse back in....Clear the codes by a.) using a code reader/scanner (or battery disconnect) b.)drive vehicle a couple of times to recreate the complaint/issue c.) read the stored codes in the abs module d.)repair the effected issue.

Two items come to mind....1) faulty dump valve in the ABS Block, or 2) debris stuck in the dump valve because fluid was pushed back into the system by pushing the caliper piston in without opening the caliper bleeder screw first.

In either event....you must start by first identifing system related codes

Hi Doc, Thanks for the reply. I already looked for codes (there are none showing) also already unhooked the battery to clear and still no codes are on there.will do what you suggested and see what happens. thanks again.
