front bearing assembly
I have searched through the threads and haven't found the answer to my question, so, I'm just going to ask.
I have a whine that changes pitch when I corner. I have replaced U-joints, done the brakes, checked the front-end. I think it is my front bearing assemblies. However, visual inspection of them doesn't show anything. They are tight, and turn without any friction..so, I'm just watching them for now.
Will they get loose/sloppy as they wear? grind? A bearing is easy to see as it wears and easy to tell when they are done. When the bearing assemblies are worn out what are the indicators (before they fall off)?
Right now the whine is nothing much more than loud tire noise.
thanks

The symptoms you described are those of a wheel bearing going south, they will last awhile before they fail altogether, but don't wait to replace them. The cost of new units is considerably lower than the cost of repairs for total failure.
