Frame Repair, Junk Yard Parts?
I just picked a 1998 xj and the the passenger rear frame "stepup" has almost completely rusted through. I have seen aftermarket pieces that weld over that bend for about $200. Just wondering if cutting a good piece out of the junkyard would be a good alternative, id like to save that $200 if possible.

Youre treading on a slippery slope when it comes to structural repair, not only for safety reasons but a legal standpoint as well depending where you live.
If you don't have experience with sectioning and structural repair id do some research first. You cant just cut wherever you'd like and expect the unibody to retain its structural integrity. It can be repairable but to do it properly youre going to have to spend the money and do it right.
Post some photos of the rusted area.
