Thanks for the help guys on finding the issue with the door seals.

As it turns out it is only the driver's side...and it looks as though a weld is separating from the body where the hinge attaches. Therefore the door is not closing all the way. It does latch, however.

I will be finding a welder next week to see if that can be remedied...and I am going to replace the seals anyway because there is evidence of dry rot.

Moving on to the next item on the agenda and to start getting parts in place and ready....because of instrument lights, radio, and heater/AC controller not working well I am planning on re-doing the wiring harness in the dash. Are there any universal harness kits available for an '87 Cherokee manual transmission...or is it best to just get some wire and re-build? Finally I hope to find a way to get the heat/AC vents working again before winter and I thought I would take care of that at the same time. Currently only the defroster vents seem to be working well.
