30yrs old in Australia, and you can qualify for Historic rego
90 days of unrestricted use per year plus Club Events
I already have an older vehicle on the scheme, it costs me about $200 + $50 Vehicle Club fee vs about $1200 for full rego for one year, insurance is cheaper too
No Emissions but does have to pass the same annual Safety Inspection as other vehicles
3 more years and I will probably do it, my XK is my daily driver, add some tiny fuel conserving ****box to my collection,
my 3 sons all well over 6ft tall are long ago left home so it would be good to have something lighter with better power to weight, so I can drive like a young ******** again

Wonder when California will come out with Annual Battery Testing on Electric Vehicles and force you to get new batteries if their testing indicates the battery is not holding the charge over some made up standard or if it discharges to quickly.....They don't want to give up the revenue or control.

I'm sure that the EV specific safety checks (ours already cover condition/appearance of number plates & the colour of oil filler caps) are already in draft form all over the (civilised?) world.
The thing is who's going to test them? The place I go doesn't work on EV's because the owner says he could never recoup (if he could afford) the cost of making a designated area of his shop compliant with the working on EV's regs. It follows that if they make testing EV's a requirement of renewing his tester's licence, he'd have to give up testing, which is a major part of his work/income/being in business. Electricity certain isn't making thefuture look very bright.
