Talking Fluid Specs

Hey guys. New xj owner here... just bought it and am planning to change all drive line fluids and such... 1996 cherokee .... what type of fluid goes back in the front diff, rear diff, transfer case? is it just 80w90 gear oil? or some type of shockproof? And how much of each of these fluids should i buy? I dont know how much maintenance was done previously on this truck, but it appears pretty clean over all. I was going to change out all fluids with synthetics. Is there a recommended brand? Red line? Royal Purple? thanx for all the help guys!

Everyone on here will give you their two cents on different brands and such. But as for the specs, if you have your owners manual that hides in the glove box it has everything in there. If not, I'm sure google will probably give ya the fastest answers.

And for using synthetics, I have read that you will just experience more oil leaks. But then again it might show you some seals that need replacing anyway

the quick and dirty:

engine 10w-30 6 quarts
trans Dexron III/Mercon will take 4-5 quarts if just draining and refilling
differentials take 75W-90 GL5 gear oil about 3 quarts total
transfer case takes ATF 1-1/2 quarts depending upon which transfer case
