That's about the worst place you can take it. I remember my cousin took her brand new Nissan there and they didn't even put the drain plug back in after they were done.

XJ's are tough... i sank mine completely under water in a swamp in Michigan... i was towed out, drilled some holes to drain out the inside then drove it all the way home to Virginia.. the only problem i had was the speedometer stopped working but it kicked on in Ohio haha... it thew a check engine light for the bus wire going down but that was an easy fix

i pulled my drain plugs for my motor and trans! gallons of water came out of both. Im pretty sure it was because my dip sticks were under water.

Don't drive it without chaging your differential fluids. Those are packed with water also! I'd seriously think about stripping the seats and carpet out if this is your dd. Clean and dry them out really well or the thing will forever stink... Not to mention all the other things that were mentioned by the other posters...
I did the same thing with a 1987 Chevy truck. We swam out the windows, me holding a little puppy! Lucky my friend driving had the sense to turn the key off before we went into the swimming hole... We towed it out with a 4wd tractor, then we drained the oil, dried everything else out we could and drove it home that same day. Then he did all the rest of the fluids... Never had a problem... though those trucks were a lot simpeler.

God man haha.... strap an air tank to your ceiling so that when you go for a swim next time you can stay down there longer... haha

Ha yea right, I told the guys at some transmission shop what I did today and the old man was dead serious that he wanted me to get rid of my Jeep. He kept going on that I was not able to legally drive it anymore since it has been in water.

Yes, to confirm the water I was in was 4.5'-5' deep. I do have a lift too btw.

Where are your water wings?

J/k

I'd take it easier on the water crossings.
