WOW! Thats crazy we both did the same thing on the same day, in the same amount of water! Today my mom and pulled the carpet out and the pad under the carpet.
I tried to play it off and say I left the windows down in the rain, but when I told my Dad that he goes,"Your full of *****, I know you sank it."

Best of luck. Also make sure you've changed your oil. I had to do it at 4 a.m. so I could drive it home once I got pulled out.

Wow, knowing the XJ electrical system like I do, I'd recommend pulling off the gas cap and driving a new XJ underneath it. If you get it running again that Jeep will phantom electrical gripes for life.

Did you mean 5' or 5"?
If it was 5' that would put the water level near the top of your windshield on a stock Cherokee. The air cleaner intake is at 3' so your motor should be hydro locked. Please clarify the water depth...

5.5' feet of water fluids are the least of your problems what were you drivin through you must of had to swim out of that thing id recomend keeping a life vest in your jeep but good luck and all kidding aside i would replace every fluid in the vehicle i would do the motor and tranny twice just to be safe
