Default Flat Battery, ticking under bonnet

Hello... the battery in my 96 XJ goes flat in about a week when the vehicle is standing. You can hear a quiet ticking noise from somewhere in the engine bay, between the power distribution centre (apparently that's what they call it in the handbook!) and the bottom left hand corner of the windscreen (as you look at it from the front with the hood up).

I pulled the 60A Fuse no1 from the PDC and the ticking stopped. Apparently that is "Generator Output" so I don't know if that narrows it down at all.

Does anyone have any ideas or the next steps for finding the fault? The vehicle is a rock stock LTD apart from the power ariel which was disconnected because the motor ran constantly after the rod broke... I don't think it can be that again although it does sound like it is coming from about the right place.

thank you!!!

It's your security system, ticking. Trying to sound off. When you jump it, or charge the battery from being dead. It's the first thing you'll hear. Turin the drivers door key in the lock. Lock/unlock. that will shut if off. Like the Basset hounds, I have a weinaraner myself. "Willie" he's my copilot.

Thanks '91. That's a relief. I'll test for a current with the ignition off when I've recharged the battery and hopefully it'll turn out just to be a dead batt. I've noticed that the battery space is pretty tight on these, I'd like to put in a bigger one but there doesn't seem to be much room...
