Default flasher related fuse blowing problem

I have a 1996 cherokee sport and the turn signals died on me yesterday.

The 20 amp fuse in the Power distribution centre was blown changed it out. Hazards and signals worked until I put it into drive. Then it blew again.

Changed the combination flasher. No change... still blows the fuse when put into drive. Checked the sockets for a short to ground, everything seemed fine with a meter. Like I said they function fine until the car is put in drive.

Noticed that with my keys in the ignition that the buzzer dies after about 20 seconds. Is this normal? Do you think its related?

Checked all around for any shorted wires with no luck. Anyone think its my NSS? Maybe time to clean/rebuild it? How would I test if its not working before I go at the NSS?

Thanks for the Help

I'd check the wiring to your multi-switch. I've seen the connector come apart and leave exposed wire. The connector came apart internally, like still connected, but the wire pulled out. Mine didn't short, as it was the ground side wire that came out. It was a kind of hokey setup on that connector.. if yours is like mine, you'll see what I mean. This is on a '93 so it may not apply to yours. Just a thought.

When you step on the brake? Could be a bad bulb or corroded socket, are you unlucky enough to have a trailer lamp wire harness?

Ya I have a trailer light attachment, that seems to be ok, I went through it and couldn't find any problems. i will double check that. specifically the brake light wiring.

I never thought of the brake thing, I will check my brake light wiring as well. Its got to be a short related to either of those circuits.
