Default Fixing up 1993 jeep cherokee

Hey guys I have a 1993 jeep with the 4.0. My parents bought it new a week after I was born. I have an 04 f150 but I'm looking to fix the jeep up for a daily driver. It runs good but has a slight miss. I'm gona change the spark plugs this week. The nuetral safety switch went out a few years ago and we unhooked it. I'm not sure how we rigged it up but the reverse lights don't work now so I plan to just replace it. Its been used as a farm veheicle since my dad stopped driving it in 05. The passenger mirror is broken so I'm replacing it. My questions are is how many mpgs do these engines get? What weight motor oil and differential oil does it use? Thanks in advance guys

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping for better than 12 mpgs because that's what my truck gets and driving 60 miles a days gets expensive. It needs new brakes to so it may be a month or 2 before I get it back on the road because ill have to buy stuff as I have the money.

Well I got a chance to work on the jeep today. I changed all the spark plugs, cleaned the throttle body and ran some sea foam through the intake. Next im gonna change the fuel and air filters. Where's the fuel filter on these jeeps? I'm gona change the rear brakes next week. Were gona take it to the local vocational school and have it painted for free except for the cost of the paint. I'm going to get a NSS this week off an old jeep my buddy has. Just had to share my progress on my new project

Fuel filter is all the way in the back above the rear passenger side. Theres two sizes of rear brakes. 9 and 10 in. 10 in drums have fins

Yes its 4wd. And do I just need to measure the drum? And also is there anything other than the pads that I need to replace. I'm good with disc but I've never worked on drums before. Thanks for the help

best hint on drums
pay attention to how you tear it down an if you get messed up look at the other side before you tear it down
DO NOT TEAR EM BOTH DOWN AT ONCE
trust me

Just to be clear, 10w40 is neither recommended by the Jeep Service Manual nor myself. I would stick with 10w30 MAX (factory specified) - there is no reason to make the engine work harder than it should to pump oil, no wonder your gas mileage is so low. 5w30 will give even better results since it offers less startup resistance.

Differential oil is 75w140 or 90w140 depending on whether you plan on hauling.

Differential Oil recommended by jeep is 80w90 or 75w140 w/ tow package. Add friction modifiers if you have a LSD.

I'm planning on just wiring in a toggle switch for the reverse lights because the NSS on my buddys old jeep doesn't work either. Where is the best cut the wires and wire in the toggle
