Default Fixing a 1996 SE neutral safety switch install

Hi. I'm extremely new to Jeeps, but after buying a 1996 Cherokee SE knowing it needed a Neutral Safety Switch, decided to replace it myself. So far, big mistake. It was rusted on so bad it broke, leaving the threaded metal on the manual valve shaft. In trying to remove the piece I rotated the shaft. Rotated it back and finished the install. Now it won't start and the gears seem off. What happened and how do I (hopefully) fix this? Oh yeah, the NSS was listed as compatible with my Jeep but the neutral line doesn't look like it will line up with the vertical groove on the shaft no way, no how. What gives? Thanks

Default Nevermind

Found the problem. The shift cable popped out at the shifter. popped it back in and all is well.
