i have a 96 cherokee classic i would ask the previous owner if they had any issues. i know the original owners of mine and they had a bunch of problems with it and the jeepy spent alot of time in for fixing. maybe it was just a lemon but i would check to be sure. mine had issues with the anti-locking brakes and electrical issues as well. they were fixed but to this day if my abs light pops on everyonce in a while and there is nuthing wrong with it

It's typically done by your insurance company. I had to do it on a boat trailer a few years back. Basically it's your insurance company writing a letter to the DMV stating that the vehicle (trailer in my case) is not stolen property, and it if at some point in time they find out it has been stolen, they (the insurance company) will be held liable for it.

You can also do a title reconstruction for it. It's all a rather lengthy process. Not cheap either. When all was said and done I think I paid $600 for the trailer deal. The trailer wasn't even worth $600 at the time, but my boat was sitting on it.

My 89 Renix has 243k on it. The original engine died at 241k. No major electrical problems for me though. I will be swapping to the open cooling system soon.
