so after driving my cherokee down the road for an hour or so I get a "clicking" noise when I make left turns and left turns only! NOT the front end ....sounds like the t-case??? when it is cold or cooled down (not road temp)then there is no noise. is my t-case giving me prob? any help be great it a stock 231 t-case and an auto tranny thanx THE Pink Lady

 

sounds like the cv or whatever joint you want to call it in your left front axel. Have it checked.

 

I have a 98 & I once had clickin noise up front that I could feel in steering wheel but I thought was hub so bought 2 new hubs & once tore the old ones off realized u-joint was bad on axle replaced both sides w/brute force. but it only acted up at certain times cause u-joint was only allowing movement in one direction so when it finally straightened itself out clickin noise went away. its fair amount of work to check it but cheaper than t.case. I'm only guessin though my prob may been different. I know when it first started I thought a wheel was gonna fall of(had that happen too from being impatient) a loud noise was comin from right front like a grindin & wierd vibrations but went away before I even pulled over. later(bout 1 wk) clickin noise came & went when I turned left it would start then go away moments later was wierd.tryin to be helpful & when I read your thread was 1st thing crossed my mind hope everthing works out for you but as for t.case I'm lost myself just startin to learn about.

 

Its almost certainly a front axle U-joint.

 

Next time it happens give the transfer case a push forward around 1/4" and see if it stops... Just to eliminate the rattling handle syndrom...
