Hello all,
I am new to the forum. I just recently purchased a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Limited 4.0L I6 w/ 174,xxx miles. It has Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ's on it also.
-What can I expect to watch out for on this year Jeep, in addition to this many miles?
-It currently is stock as far as driveline, supension, and body goes. Is there anything I can do to the motor side of it to get better gas milage, i.e., throttle body spacer, K&N Airfilter??
-I am also looking at saving up for the Rusty's 4.5" lift. I plan on running either 33x12.50R15 or 265/75R16LT MT Baja ATZ's.
Any tips or info would be much appreciated.
P.S. - 100% of my driving will be on pavement or the sand of the Outer Banks, N.C.
Thanks, Ryan.

tb spacers are a waste of money
k&n is in the right direction
the better your jeep can breathe the better it preforms
also look into an up graded exaust, ie less restrictive
welcome to the addiction

as far as upgrades for mpg and power, i'd go with apn headers, better flow exhaust, k&n filter, high flow cat, bigger tb, stratus injectors, replace your O2 sensor, and on stock wheels and tires, you should get around 23-24 mpg easily.

4.5 will clear 32's fine, just don't count on good gas mileage.
about the flowmaster 40.... with a "high flow" cat (if you know what i mean), and flowmaster 40 mine sound just a bit louder than stock, but my muffler is not broke in yet. it will get deeper as time goes. right now when it idles it sounds about like a 5.0 mustang with flowmaster 40's.

Sounds good, As for as the lift, I have been reading a bit, and was wondering, will the 4.5" affect my driveline enough for a SYE? Or, will the TC drop be suffcient?
Seeing as this XJ is replacing a problem ridined Ford Ranger with 5" of lift. I would like to do this the right way, keeping costs down to a minimum.
Thanks.

10-4, Thanks guys.
The TC drop will be sufficent for on-road driving and light beach driving until I can afford an SYE?
I love the Cherokee so far, now that I have been driving it a few days.
How hard are the stock speakers and radio to overhual? I plan on getting a Pioneer Head Unit and Infinity speaker.
One more thing, how hard is it to install bright white LED's in the overhead console lights?
Largest tire size on a stock cherokee?
You guys are great!
Thanks.

good choices on you audio up grade
the rear overhead speakers are easy, just pop the grill off and pull the screws.
the doors are a bit trickier, a few screws around the edge of the plastic panel and in the door handle
theres also plastic push pins on the back of the panel use a large flat screwdriver or get the tool from your local parts place to pry the panel free
now most audio shops will tell you all 4 stockers are 5 1/4 in mids but with a little creative work you can pull off 6 1/2 in speakers
anything above stock wlll greatly improve your sound quality
now as far as your headunit the center panel should just pull off
there are two points on either side of you center council
pop the bottom off first then the top revealing alot of open space to fill with new audio goodies
