My 1990 xj has a few electrical gremlins(AMC gremlins but this is what's happening, if more than 1 person in my Jeep the headlights become unreliable where they will cut off and on, like a bad connection. I tried getting to the headlight switch in dash but I can't seem to see how to get to it. Another issue is my erratic idle. Some days it's idling at 1500 other days it's normal about 700-850 rpm. How does renix control idle? Next on my list of gremlins is the dome light sometimes works sometimes doesnt. And an annoyance I've been dealing with is the doors not wanting to shut, I have to manually move the lock mechanism down to shut my doors. Any input on any of those issues is greatly appreciated

 

It ended up being the harness that clips into the drivers headlight was dirty. I cleaned it out and they work fine. Though it sounds like your problems might be intertwined...
