ok so i'm thinking of going the route of putting a idler pulley in place of the compressor, this will be the best thing for me right now as money is an issue. that and i already have an extra belt that's never been used that a friend of mine gave to me.

i can't seem to dig anything up on ebay though, all i see is the bypass pulleys for grand cherokees. can someone point me in the right direction to find one? TIA

I don't think you can even run a belt with out the AC pulley there. XJ's that didn't have AC had a idler pulley where the compressor is.

I'd crawl under your Jeep and look at the dampener, they go out often on these rigs.
Why are you so fixed on the compressor? Do you know for a fact that its the problem? Even if the compressor was completely seized, it would only affect your AC and your belt if you tried to turn it on. We can't help if you don't listen

well, because everything else seems to be ok....except the compressor.

and by those pics you can see (or maybe not..), that does not look normal. something in the compressor (clutch most likely, or bearing) took a dump and shot that crap all over the place. so im simply going to replace it with a idler pulley...
