We still have them here in Tx but it is just another way for the g'vment to get your money. In the larger cities (Houston, Dallas and Lubbock) they have emmissions to pass as well. Down here the exhaust is seldom a fail point. Brakes and lights are the only real big money items that they harp on.

 

No testing in KY.

 

Got the jeep back. They ended up just replacing the muffler and exhaust pipe from the muffler back. Cat was still good. They did install a longer than needed exhaust hanger and it hangs lower (tip) than the shackle now. I'm gonna fix that before i take it off road.

So i got the exhaust fixed, inspection, new gas cap, and tires balanced for $220. First time i paid someone to do work on it in a LONG time.

Rides so much better with the tires balanced. Not much shaking anymore.

 

Mine just flunked the inspection here in MO... for a high beam on the left headlight being out. Not that it's a big deal, and I can certainly see it not passing if the low beam didn't work. Oh well, no big-o-deal.

 

The older I get, the more someone else gets to do the work.
