Default Exhaust question

Hi there,
I've been reading the forum for a couple of weeks and have learned a great deal about my "new" '95 XJ. Thanks or all of the information that you guys share here.

I have a question about my exhaust...when I start up the Jeep in the morning to let 'er warm up, I notice an area just behind the tailpipe where it appears that there is a mist settling on the pavement. Wondering what the exhaust could be spitting out that would make that wet spot...and how to fix it.

Its normal, the ground is cold from the night and then the warm water coming from your exhaust hits the ground causing steam or mist. It is like peeing on frozen ground you hear it cracking and maybe see some steam.

I've just never seen it in my other vehicles, so wanted to make sure that it wasn't unburnt gasoline or something.

Thanks guys.

Any complete combustion reaction yields two things. CO2 and H2O. All you see dripping is the water thats collecting from the reaction. No need to worry.

No, see, that's what bothered me; it wasn't dripping. It's a patch of some liquid that is misted onto the pavement, about 1.5 ft in diameter.

its normal, dripping or misting, its just condensate, if it smells like gas that is a problem, but if its just a bit of water dont worry about it
