Default Exhaust question

So i have a 96 XJ classic that i changed the exhaust on. New intermediate pipe leading to a magnaflow hi-flo cat to a flowmaster super 44. I have no tail pipe on currently and need to get one, the outlet on the muffler is 2.25. Where is the best place to get a tail pipe from and does anyone have a particular brand tailpipe they would recommend? I was thinking about doing a side exit exhaust, so if anyone has any ideas on that, that would be great too. Wasn't looking to weld the tail pipe on either, but i will if that is the only option.

thanks

I also ran with mudfrog. Couldn't be happier. Great price, service, quality. I recommend to anyone and everyone.

We went with a turn down 1st, then side exit (a little quieter).

Thats exactly the setup that I want to try and do! do you remember what size piping you used to connect the turn down to the muffler? Is your muffler inlet the stock sizing, 2.25 i believe?

OEM type tailpipes run $70-$75 Napa or Autozone and will use the original location hangers. Exiting out the back will be quieter(inside) than dumping underneath. The exhaust really should exit behind the passenger compartment because of CO. Another plus for the OEM type pipe is that its tucked above the axle and beside the frame, so won't hinder ground clearance.

If your pipe/cat/muffler are shorter than OEM, you can make up the difference with 2-1/4" pipe. Welding isn't the only option as most is made to slide fit together and be clamped in place.

You're in VA, Walker makes exhaust systems in Harrisonburg?

We went 2.5" (stock is 2.25") all the way....cat, muff, turn down, then side pipe. Side exit tucks up well also.
