Default exhaust mount under transmission

For the life of me, I can't remember what the exhasut hanger looks like on my 90 XJ 4.0L auto. I'm putting it all back togehter, think I threw out the bracket that gets sandwiched between the AW4 and tranny mount...or did I ever have one? My downpipe and cat. inlet have the 4 bolt flange on the ends, I thoguht they both bolt to a bracket that hangs under the transmission. Can anyone snap any pics?
In my pile of parts from other assorted XJs, I have the one like my 95 had, it has a moon shaped cutout and a spoon-shaped bracket was welded to the downpipe. My 99 has a similar setup, but the under trans brkt has a circular hole, a rod is welded to the exhaust pipe.

Hey bud...On my 90 it runs free till the rear of the cross-member. There at a 4 bolt flange it has a bracket. It's been that way over 10 years I've had it. Now you know all I know!

thanks, thats like my 99.

Here's what I'm putting back on (offroad-use only), its got the factory 4-hole flange mount, was used on the 90 and 91 XJ's I've had. Now I'm remembering it more, 2 studs on the cat-side facing forward, 2 studs on the tranny mount pointing rearward, the downpiple flange goes behind the tranny mount.

thats it! I'm missing the part with red arrow, is that sandwiched between the tranny mount and tranny?

I only go out in the dark and lay in the driveway once a night! (my limit lol!). Sounds reasonable though. If you grab one at the JY it shoutd be pretty clear. If you DO decide to run your pipe on back, not only can you mount it in a second point, (no doubt stronger, cuz it can't pivot on just that one), not breathing exhaust and maybe better fire..safety....have fun!

Weird-I just put a new muffler on myself today. Where the 4 bolt flange is there is a bracket that two of the bolts go through. After that, theres a hook on the tail pipe just rear of the muffler. That goes on the rubber hanger near the differential. Then theres another hanger near the bumper. here's a pic of the parts I bought. 2 1/4" pipe so I needed clamps and everything.

well thanks for the extra effort! I just take lots of pics during the daytime, then have them stored on my computer. I couldnt find any of the tranny/exhaust bracket though.

I swapped engine/trans/t-case, and now this bracket it MIA. I can't picture in my head what it looks like, thats all I was really wondering. But now I know I need to find a 87-92 XJ for this part.

mine is not very solid without it. I tried using those rubber hangers, they all broke after one jump. Plan B is to fab sheet metal hangers, but I'd like to find the factory bracket.

It's my bet that bracket tags on the trany side of the trany mount. With that, then something supporting it farther back it won't stress the section up to the header.

In the meantime, just land your jumps on a steep down-hill. Very smooth that way.

I'm not sure if there is a demo of how to do that here or not. >> http://www.youtube.com/v/EEu42L0ufBY...%26version%3d3
