Default Exhaust modification.

My exhaust has been smacking my leaf spring & annoying the crap outta me. Rather than pay to get it fixed, i've been thinking about just cutting it pretty much after the muffler & maybe putting a turn down or something at that point.

Question is cab noise, will it be much louder?
Also, do you guys see any other issues to look for with doing this?

you might get exhaust in the cab when sitting still. and i don't know what your state has for insp. regs but i know here in va the exhaust has to go past the passenger compartment

yea, check your inspection laws, in pa the exhaust has to go to the outside edge of the vehicle, doesn't matter which edge (it can come out the passenger front fender) just as long as it gets to an edge. just check with your local inspection station, no point in doing all that work if they're gonna tell you to take it off

With a turn-down under underneath, sound waves will bounce off the pavement and back up to the vehicles floorboard most likely causing at least some "drone" sound inside the cab. Having the exhaust exit the side or rear usually eliminates the drone......we now have zero, zip, nada cab drone in our XJ, even with a straight-thru performance muff.
