exhaust man. crack at collector question
I've discovered that my 99 xj exhaust manifold has the inevitable crack where it collects and I'm not very pleased. (see censored pic). I'm going to replace it so... I have two questions:
1) Would this crack be enough to make white smoke billow out of my hood for a few seconds? This only seems to happen when I am about to park.
2) I want to make sure this never happens again. I recently upgraded my exhaust with a 2.5" clearance from the downpipe back. With this I added a flex pipe right before the cat. What steps can I take to ensure that a new manifold will not crack again? Is there an upgrade?
