If you dont have a welder I'd try cleaning it up with a wire brush and then put some JB Weld on it and see if it holds.

This sure is an annoying crack. My nieces bfs 1997 GC has a wider than normal crack at this point and thus is very loud and fails inspection. I have gone to 3 junkyards and looked at probably 15 Cherokees and Grand Cherokees and have yet to see one that didnt have at least a small crack in this area.

Call a couple of Muffler Shops if you take it off the Vehicle it'll cost about $20.00 to get it welded. I welded a couple of straps around mine, turned out real good.

i know money can be an issue, but APN comes with a lifetime warranty, and anything you do to your cracked exhaust will be not much better than a duct tape repair. weld that for 20 bucks now, tomorrow it will crack somewhere else that's another 20 bucks.

I don't do Cheap, I looked around the Forum's and saw what was to be said about the APN Headers and I decided to grind out the old welds add 1" strap and re-weld in the collector's. I really like how it turned out. I went with MagnaFlow Mufflers and new pipe all the way out the back. I went a little higher over the rear axle for future mods.

I was told these things so i am not sure if they are exactly right, JB weld melts at 600 degrees so that would not work. Steel stick melts at 200 degrees, so that may work for the time being till i order an APN. But i will replace it soon with an APNI have a couple friends with welders. I am leaning towards welding it for now but if i do that i am not going to remove it to weld it. I will try while its installed. Not sure when i will be able to get around to it but i will post pics when i get done. I know sometime soon i will need a whole new exhaust system. Would rather dump that money into bumpers or lockers but gotta do what you gotta do.
Thanks for all the replies,

Mine is cracked too.. i replaced with a good stocker a few years ago that i had in garage.

My rig is getting parted in a few months after a trip west, and i dont think my 98 ZJ replacement needs a header yet. So i'll be removing the XJ's and trying a weld repair. I dont expect that to hold long, then again i dont need it to.

When i need one it'll be an APN.
