Default exhaust dump

I'm trying to decide what to do with my exhaust on my 95 XJ. I already have a dynomax hi-flow cat and Flowmaster super 40 setup, but i need to decide what to do from there back. I have 2 options.

1) Dump the exhaust before the axle. I've been driving the last few days with no tailpipe on and it gets pretty loud inside the cab - almost to the point of being annoying. Would a 9"+/- dump with a 90degree turndown help this any?

2) Buy a 2 1/2" mandrel bent tailpipe (fits over muffler outlet) to replace the POS crimped 2 1/4" pipe i took off and briong the exhaust all the way back.

Basically i want it to still be loud, but not annoying inside like it is borderlining on now. Advice? What have other people done?

Its annoying because of the drone master muffler you have.

A turn down will just bounce the exhaust waves off the ground. It will make it sound deeper but will not cure any cabin noise. If anything make it worse.

A full tail pipe would be the way to go if you want to reduce cabin noise. You will still get the 1800rpm drone but it should no be as bad.

TRS80 is right.

Or you could go with side exit right before or after the wheel, be sure to put it on the right side though so you blast houses with noise when you drive through neighborhoods or scare other drivers as you pass them on two lane roadways...

glass-pack. Its loud but sounds great. I also have rhino'd floors so that doesn't help with the cab noise.

MulishaXJman, what size glasspack do you have? The shorter they are the louder it will be, correct? I was looking at maybe getting a 12" cherry bomb and doing a sidepipe like yours on my renix..

Not a guru on glasspacks, but mine is about 18 inches plus. It has a real deep tone under 2100 RPM's, then it screams from there to the red line.

Good luck with what ever you do, If you can remember send me a pic when your done.

Thanks, Ive had the idea of a side pipe in my head since I got the jeep (about 2 months ago) but its kinda on the back burner for now. The title hasnt even been transferred yet, and my dad doesnt seem to be rushing too hard to do it.. I have my permit and have been driving my girlfriends 96, I will hopefully have my license some time soon and then I will be able to do stuff to the jeep (jeep=transportation, transportation=job, job=MONEY). I will keep you in mind when I do the side pipe, but It wont be for a while still..

yea...unfortunately that's what i figured. it drones pretty bad up till about 1700rpm.

Anyone know where i can buy a mandrel bent tailpipe 2 1/2"? i've heard pipes for 89-94 XJ's are 2 1/2" and are bent the same as a 95's.

Who needs a muffler or a cat? Open header baby . If you want loud hack the exhaust off otherwise it will just be too quiet. haha
