Hi All,

I just got done putting new condenser, compressor and accumulator in my 2001 Cherokee. I vacuumed the system and it held pressure so I charged it up. I immediately saw blockage symptoms, Very high pressure on high side and very low on low side, compressor cycling, etc. The tube going into the evap coil from the condenser was cold but other side coming out and into the accumulator was not. I evacuated the system again and tried blowing compressed air through the evap coil but it only flows in the wrong direction. It will not flow in the correct direction at all.

Does anyone have any idea what would cause this? It seems strange as I do not believe there is a check valve of any sort in there.

I'm not certain, but isn't the evaporator a parallel-flow type? If so it would take a lot to plug it up. Could you have accidentally gotten some debris in the system that clogged up the orifice tube? It doesn't take much.

 

I removed the tube to test, it is definitely the evap core. I can blow compressed air in the outlet (left side) and it flows freely. It if try on the inlet side, nothing flows through at all, as if there is a flap or something inside but I don't see anything. I'm going to try and scope it later.
