Default EVAP Leak Detection pump question

went to have the check engine light code run, came up with a "large evap leak," up from a "small evap leak" not so long ago. was under the hood in the parking lot and found some disconnected hoses near the leak detection pump (engine compartment, black cannister, passenger side near the firewall, right?). One was a hard plastic line coming over from behind the engine, one was a soft rubber line running into the LDP, and the third was a short rubber piece coming straight out of the firewall and curving down, away from the other two. I couldn't get any good pictures, and I cant seem to find any pics of this connection and what it should look like. I connected the hard plastic line back into the one that runs to the LDP, as this looked right to me, but I want to be sure.

anyone able to confirm this for me?

There was a short crack near the end of the soft line, and no clamp or anything. But I'm gonna go with magic.

My basic question is, does the hard line to straight into the soft line into the LDL? What is that third, short piece sticking out of the firewall? A vent?
