Default enginr mount bolts

so there i was this weekend checking my motor mounts and what did i find, the bracket on the engine that mounts to the motor mount typically has 3 grade 8 bolts holding it to the block, well 2 cof them had broke off. HOURS later i had them replaced. CHECK YOURS...
Just dont want to think what would have happened if that last bolt snapped.

Oh yeah and changing the oil filter housing o-rings is a pain in the a#$.

The former is a known issue.

It's caused by the holes not quite being D&T deeply enough, so the screws bottom out in the holes instead of the torque applied generating the tensile preload and clamping force needed for the screw to last.

The fix? When you replace the screws, put a couple of flat washers under the head. This should help keep the screw from bottoming out in the hole, and allowing the tensile preload to be generated.

The check? It's easy - take a .005" feeler gage, and try to touch the screw shank with it. If you can:
- Pull out the screw
- Replace it with SAE8 hardware (typically threaded 3/8"-16, I think they're 1" or 1.25" long)
- Put a couple of flat washers under the head
- Torque to spec (Tech section of my site has what specs I've accumulated from FSMs to date.

The use of LocTite #242 (or equivalent) is recommended.
