In my opinion with these types of things bigger is better for sure.I dont know the weight of the engine but I would think a 1250lb stand would do the trick.
Dont get a 3 wheeled stand as they are prone to tipping.Keep in mind that you will be wrenching on the engine and rotating it etc so again imo bigger is better.
Havent tried it but here is a quick example of what looks to be a decent low budget stand at AAP. I am sure that there are way better ones out there but you arent thinking of opening an engine shop are ya?
