hi guys so yesterday i was driving on the freeway and the temp was fine running at the usual 210 215 it always does. then i started sitting in traffic and she started to heat up to about 235 or so and once i got back into open air she still didnt want to cool back down so i got a little worried. on my way back she ran normal again but just before i got home i got stuck in some more traffic and she heated up again to 235 im not sure why this is but its got me worried. my fans work the thermostat works the water pump isnt having any problems that ive noticed. its never done that to me but ive also never sat in that much traffic. so what do you guys think?

Mine runs on the line just under 210 (on the renix cluster, I dont know if the newer clusters have that line).
I would check your mechanical fan, and do a radiator flush.
Its also not a bad idea to run a garden hose through the fins in the radiator (from front to back) until the water runs clean.
I always spray my radiator for a minute at the car wash.

Defiance665- i acutally dont have a mechanical fan because i have a triple threat aluminum radiator which has three electric fans and they all just kick on once the temp hits a certain temp which i can adjust but i know those arent the problem. i also just did a radiator flush last saturday and the fluid still looks good and is at the right level. but ill try washing the radiator and seeing if its dirty. but driving to work today it was fine so its weird im stumped on this one lol

personally, I almost did the triple threat fan system, but I figured the mech fan was good for constant low idle cooling and such. So I basically I bought a new electric fan to replace my stock e-fan (better cfm's and a new thermo switch) and I replaced my mech fan with a new fan design. Plus I have a new all metal 2 row rad.

make sure they are in fact coming on. If they are, check the thermoswitch that is cutting them on and make sure it is set to around 205-210*.
do your fans have an "on" and "off" setting?
Set it to turn on at 200 and off at 185. This will keep you around 190-195, which is where the jeep is designed to run.
If it just has an "on" setting, set it for ~210.

ill have to double check on that its just one screw so im assuming that its just an on setting but im pretty sure it doesnt have any numbers ill just have to play with it till i get them to come on at the right temp

that seems really low key. I had looked at those systems and they say they use a fully adjustable thermoswitch. Might wanna nab one from AZ or something.
