Default Engine swap question?

I just purchased a 2001 XJ with low miles, no title, and several rust spots. I did notice that the engine did not have a distributor and my 1999 XJ does have one. Would I be able to swap out the the block or would I be able to swap out the whole engine? what all if so needs to be switched out for a proper fit?

The short block is okay but the head is trash. Use the 0630 head from your '99. The distributor and harness from your '99 should fit right in.

Right.

Make sure you remove the crankshaft Position Sensor before seperating the engine from the bellhousing and after installing them.

If you don't have a Factory Service Manual for your '99, I recommend that you get one. You'll need it.

Pacific Coast Manuals.com has them cheap. They're pdf downloads.
