Default engine swap?

two reasons i may need to in the future.
my 2000 has the 331 head, and now it makes some "light knocking" noises, but runs great. i am not positive the noise is inside the engine. im going to try to figure it now that i got other issues done. good oil pressure.
i have a "spare" 97 sport with a similar but not exact same 4.0. 130000 miles
what trouble might i have with that engine going in my 2000 if that time comes.

Not a huge deal to do.

I just swapped a 96 into my 00. I believe the 97 was different, but what I had to do for my 96 to work was get a 00 trans, get 00 engine harness, swap the dizzy for the cam sensor, etc. I also swapped the intake since its got more volume and the other sensors I needed were already installed on the intake. Pretty straight forward swap really. Same mounts and what not. Remember the top two bolts mating the trans and engine are weird male torx type bits. I didn't use a special socket but a 10mm socket or the standard equivalent worked well.
