Default Engine Swap

I am not sure if I am in the right catagory or not.

I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Country 4.0L Automatic with a bad motor.

I want to swap with a 4.0L out of a 1993. What kind of issues am I looking at along the way?

Michelle

You shouldn't have to many issues. I'd keep the wiring harnesses from the 93 (for reference) just to check because i know a lot of that was changed in 96.

just swap the sensors from the 96 over, use your fuel rail. All the sensors are the same as far as location is concerned, the connector changed with the move to ODBII from ODBI.The accessory drive also changed so you will have to use your drive. I put a 93 into my 99

Yes.... 96+ have a different PS bracket for tightening the belt. One other thing, you will need to change the coil, and cam sensor(disc under rotor) the plugs are different as well.
