Default Engine studder.

Since I bought my Jeep, when I start it in the morning, or after it has been sitting a while it has a hesitation until it warms up. I thought it was no big deal just a cold start, no lately I've been driving around and while I am driving it wad the same hesitation. More like a drawback of power. I was told to clean the air control valve but I don't understand what that would have to do with me going to constant power in the throttle. Any suggestions or advice?

Have you done anything for maintenance? Checked plugs, wires, cap and rotor?

It could be a TPS, throttle position sensor, or IAC, idle air control, but I would check other places first.

I had the same problem it was my TPS (throttle position sensor) going out before it actually stopped working. Disconnect the connector and clean it and see if it helps the situation.

New TPS from autozone is $35.00 if you have a lot of miles just replace it as a preventive measure. These sensors are usually the first ones to go out.

Get a scan tool and check the live data and observe while you press the throttle to see if you read all the numerical values. Do this while key on engine off situation.

Get a carb cleaner and clean out the throttle body and intake air control pocket.

If these situation doesn't solve your problems it either vacuum leak or Intake Air Motor responding weakly.

No P.M. yet, it runs great and smooth when its not starving, but I'm sure it would hurt. I did pull the codes and there were one or two that talked about bad reads on the O2 sensor. Aside from terrible gas mileage(about 200mi to a 20gal tank) could that cause it to get that starve?

Fuel pressure would be another good thing to check so that you can eliminate that as a cause.

So I pulled out the IAC valve cleaned it up and blasted it and the air intake and comp. with cleaner. Helped but still no fix. So I went the route of pulling the codes with the on, off ignition method. O2 sensor codes, replaced it and now it "runs like a top."
