Default Engine stalls after long idle and cuts back while driving

Ive had a cel on for a short to voltage on both 02 sensors since I bought the jeep in june. Today it tried to stall at idle and did so multiple times and chokes down while driving. It doesnt hold a prime either for more than maybe 2 hours. Will replacing my fuel pump assembly fix this or could my 02 sensors cause the stalling?

I'd get the O2 code fixed first.

Only way to find out is fix issue causing the light. It would not be on if system was working correctly. As for the prime loss that might be another different issue.

We need to know more about your XJ. Like the year, engine, etc.

The upstream O2 sensor data among other sensor data is what the computer uses to adjust the fuel to air ratio. If it's bad I'd guess it could cause the problem. If both it and the downstream O2 sensor are bad it can cause your CEL to come because of codes tripped. It's recommended to change both when you replace one.

Usually yes. Also leaking injector can cause this.

Just replaced o2 sensors. Fastened tgem to their hangers and so far s9 good. Let it idle long enough to use the bathroom then drove it the 500 yards to my papas and then let it idle while I closed the shop and went in and talked for a minute or 2 and she was still running smooth. I may have solved my issue. Hopefully.

You may have a blown fuse for the O2 heater circuit. Don't have my XJ here so I can't locate it for you but it's either under the hood in the box by the battery on down under the dash on the drivers side.

Other than the CEL on how is it running?
