Default Engine Sensor Question

I have new senors for a 97, but sold it before i put them on. I got a 98. I know the water pump sensor wouldnt work, but would the intake sensors in the Tbody work, and the CPS?

I'd think they would all be the same ('97/'98), including the coolant temp sensor. One way to find out, look them up online at the various parts stores, if the part numbers are the same, '97 vs '98, should be good to go.

Heres the thing. I made a post about this last winter (a year ago). The weirdest thing happened. I had a 97 (i know for sure it WAS a 97) and the temp sensor went bad. So i bought a replacement at autozone. A replacement 97 sensor didn't work, the harness wouldn't plug into it and sit. So i took it back, took it out, and he gave me a new one. Same thing. So then he said, try a '96. Didn't work. Then he gave me a '98. Sure as **** that worked. Figured i must have a "late 97" model "early 98". But my buddy switched out his temp sensor in his 97, for a 97 from autozone, and it worked fine. The harness plug was different on his 97 than mine. Different sensors too. Only one on the engine that wouldn't work though. All the other replacements worked.

....depends on when your xj was made in 97. when you buy a new one, make sure it will plug into your harness before you unscrew your old one and take it out. that way you can exchange it before you use it.
