engine removal - how do you get.......

Unhappy engine removal - how do you get.......

to the top 3 bell housing to engine bolts??? Mine is a 2000, 4.0 with aw4 ? trans, are these 3 bolts torx head? I don't have a lift, is it possible to get to these bolts laying on a creeper? Looks impossible to do.

Remove trans mount, tilt engine down a little on a jack - easy to reach!

Easyest way I found was to take the cross member off lower it with a jack and grab the last three from the top side I've done this twice so far

Theyre e20 bolts theyre external torq heads it helps with wobble extensions too

Some yes, some no. Especially not TORX if I've been in there.

Once it's lowered a little you can see them.

I saw a guy cut several holes in the floorboard - BUTCHER!

E12 Torx. Loosen/remove them before any others.

I'm working on the same thing right now....what a B*TCH those bolts are to access. I thought there were only two up top, am I missing one?

^ Truth. Especially the part about doing them first. If you've already got the others out, put the next one down on each side back in a tighten it up to take the tension of the top two so they come out MUCH easier. Then take the other two lower ones you rte-installed back out. Also, replace them with some regular hex-head bolts when you go back in.
