Default Engine mounts bad?

Should i replace these engine mounts, or do they look ok, from a 1999 diesel XJ

Yes.

And take a look at the trans mount.

Its a pain to change them, but IMO your mounts are worn enough to change. In my experience the trans mount seems to go before the motor mounts so it would be a good idea to do all of them at once

It really is pretty simple, just sounds daunting...

Floorjack with a block of wood on top of it to support engine via oil pan.

Unbolt mounts. Install new ones. Don't tighten the fasteners all the way.

Start the engine and shift from D to R a few times. Shut engine off. Tighten fasteners.

May I ask why you are thinking about changing them?
Is there a problem you hope to solve?
