My engine light has been coming on periodically for the last couple of days, but today it finally stayed lit. So, I went to the auto parts store to see if they good check the codes, but they couldn't since it is a 95 (too old). I've been noticing that it acting hesitant, like it wants to turn off. This morning when I turned it on, it revved up high. So, I turned it off and turned it back on and it did the same thing. This is the only time it has ever happened. It also cut off on me twice today. I've checked all my fluids and everything is fine. Is there any way to pull the code manually or does anybody have any idea what this could be? Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to be clear. Thanks in advance.

The high idle would be caused by the IAC going bad,it will also cause it to stumble when you hit the gas.

 

mine was doin the same the light would come on and go off randomly
mine is also a 95 so i couldnt get any code readings
but i noticed it did it most when id get the motor to bog down a little

well i kinda gave up on it since it still was running fine

i ended up takng the distributer off cleanin it out cleanin out all the plugs and then did an oil change even tho i wasnt needed yet

i also noticed that my air filter was loose and then my alternator went out but after replacing all that
my light hasnt come back on and its running alot better
