Default engine light on after plugs/injectors/cold air/sea foam

Hi All, I'm new to jeeps and the forum. Forum rocks! Just bought 2000 cherokee, 4.0, 4x4, auto, 123k on truck/~90k on replacement engine.

check engine (the light in shape of engine) just came on. In the last 5 days I have done this:

19# ford injectors
afe cold air intake
plugs
sea foam in brake vac line and tank

(this morning I did all except the injectors which went in last week).

After doing the seam foam the light came on. Truck seems to run great (better than before seam faom). What turned the engine light on? O2 sensor? How many O2 sensors are there in this - 2? Do I need to flash the computer? If so can I find how to do that by searching threads (probably).

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to CF from Tj... dis connect the battery for a few minutes and the light should go off. If and when it goes on again do the "Key Trick" from here...Tj

You most likely set a misfire code while Seafoaming, disconnecting the battery will not reset a check engine light on an OBDII vehicle (like yours). You will have to go in with a scan toola dn see what the code is and go from there. Fix it soon.

Default thanks

great info. thanks. I disconnected positive terminal, let it sit for 1/2 hour, reconnected, turned key to on, turned headlights on then off, then took key out. Started it up and light turned off. Have driven it ~15 miles and light is still off. Hopin it stays that way..

Thanks again.
