electrical problem

electrical problem
Hi, I have a problem that I hope I can get some help with. I live in Buffalo and while driving to work this morning (10 degrees out) ALL of my 2000 Jeep Cherokee electrical stuff went out. The jeep still
ran and the lights worked but everything else shut down(wipers, heater, directionals, windows, everything) also ALL of the idiot lights on the dash went on.
When I finally got to work everything just turned back on and then worked. Does anyone know what might have caused this? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

Engine: 4.0 H.O. K&N, Borla headers, custom down pipe, magnaflow hi-flo cat, flowmaster to turn down tip
jiggle your key when this happens again, cause if all the dash light came on that means you either have a short in your ignition where the key goes in, or more then likely a short in your ignition switch on your steering column
