That's what I ment I believe you remove the colum shroud and remove the ignition cylinder and the key goes into the switch? Is that the same part?

Maybe one of your harnesses has come undone behind your instrument cluster. You might clean and snug up the connections on the back.

Sort of. The key-in switch is part of the ignition switch. When the key is inserted into the cylinder it activates the key-in switch. It has its own two pin connector on the ignition switch.

just a thought .... i had all kinds of ele prob on my 99 sport and found that my fuse box was bad so take a look at that ... if you have been mudding or in any deep water trail ridding water might have got into the fuse box and is shorting things out ... other than that i would check the auto start .... the question i have is when it was put on and when the problem started
