I just bought me a 1999 Jeep Cherokee sport 3 days ago. Funny part id it's the classic story of , I bought it off a little old lady. Literally, I really did sadly I think she was a professional con artist. But it's got several electrical issues no dash lights power seat Works sporadically no power to the air conditioner compressor no power to the OBD port but my cigarette lighter is working fine cruise control does not work I have not checked the power going there yet I was just wondering if all of these electrical issues could be connected to a certain area or thing somehow. Any advice or suggestions will be greatly anticipated and appreciated.

if it's all of that from different systems I would say check out the ECM or main fuse box or whatever. I'm new to Jeeps also so i don't know what it's called. But maybe it got wet and stuff shorted out inside. Fuses may be good but circuit board may be shot.

So you think the circuit board could be underneath the fuse box that's outside underneath the hood?

Weeellllll I'm not 100% sure. Never opened one up. But I would have to guess there is some sort of circuit board in the fuse box that's not visible... That all the fuses plug into through the plastic.

The PDC (the fuse box under the hood) does not use a circuit board. But the JB in the passenger side kick panel does. I wouldnt mess with taking either one apart just yet. Are any relays or fuses missing? The PDC atleast, should look something like this.

Good info. I figured most fuse panels would have some type of circuit the fuses go into...

Compare this with your JB, at the bottom of the page. Anything missing, or blown? http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/...tification.htm

It is always a good idea to remove and clean the engine grounds when buying a 'new to you' XJ. Any testing done can be thrown off by bad grounds. Check the electrical connections to the componenet that isnt working for damaged wires and corrosion, for the same reason.

Good idea to check ALL the grounds.

FB, has anybody posted CCKen's ground pictures all in one sticky yet? That would be a Very Good Thing.

Steve, search on username CCKen and "ground:" and you'll find a bunch of pictures of all the ground locations. Very helpful. CCKen hasn't posted in a few years, but his stuff is a gold mine.

Rocky, I know you mean well, but please don't post advice on things when you are "not 100% sure.". It just causes confusion.

I meant circuit board... The green board with capacitors, resistors, possibly inductors, switches, etc.....
