Default Electrical/Alarm question with pictures!

98 Sport, alarm system installed. Power locks/windows.

So, I've been tracking down a "ghost lock" gremlin. Thought it was the door lock switches, replaced them, but that wasn't it. Pulled the panel underneath the steering wheel and had a look at the mess under there. I'm lost, but I think it could be the alarm or a wire shorting out under there.

Here is the alarm:

It's useless to me, since I do not have the keyfob. Can I simply cut the wire and remove this black box? Or will it shoot purple ink on me and call the FBI?

Here is a wire exposed. Any clue if this brown wire could trigger the locks if it grounded randomly while driving?

There is this box under there as well, it looks like it is part of the alarm system.

No thoughts? Basically, I just want to know if anyone has had any luck removing/disabling the alarm for a 98?

I plan on at the least making sure no more wires are showing in hopes of that clearing up the "randomly locking while driving" problem.

That black box zip tied to the column is just the shock sensor. It isn't the problem. I wouldn't just cut wires to remove it as you might have a starter kill hooked up in there. I would trace all wires coming from that box and unplug/u hook them. They should all go somewhere under the drivers side of the dash. If you come across a factory wire that is cut, and then spliced, you will need to cut the aftermarket wires out, and re attach the factory wires together.

Now that I look at the pics closer, the two prong plug with the white and white/red wires is the starter kill. Unplug that and see if your jeep will crank. ( bet it won't). If not those two wires can be connected to bypass the starter kill. Then just u plug the main harness to the box and you should be fine unless you want to pull everything.

I ended up just leaving the box and alarm in there for now. There were too many wires to cut and splice to remove it completely if it isn't completely malfunctioning. I electrical taped up all the wires that were exposed under the steering wheel and so far, there have been no random lock/unlocking of the door, time will tell if I got all the loose wires plugged up I suppose.

Since I wasn't having any trouble starting the jeep I figured why mess with the rest of the alarm just yet.
