Last fall, either leaking power steering fluid or possibly radiator fluid effected my electric radiator fan. It screamed like a scalded cat and rattled like it was going to fly off. Since we were going into the colder months, I just disconnected the electric feed. But now that we are heading into the hotter months, I better fix it. Any tips/tricks? Anything I should look out for? Is it as easy as jut buying a replacement and swapping?

It’s a little tricky to remove and install just because there’s not much room. Other than that it’s straightforward.

The motor will eventually give out. The fan blades get brittle and when one cracks the fan gets unbalanced and destroys itself. I have bought two replacements (one for my '98 and one for my '99) from summitracing. It's a tight fit and easiest if you remove the radiator support and tilt the radiator back a little bit. It's doable without doing that, but you will need to turn it 90 degrees, slide it in and then rotate it to the right orientation. I have had the header panel and radiator cross support off so many times, it only takes me about 10 minutes now. The electric fan is more for the AC than for cooling. It will come on if the temp goes above 215-220 but will come on as soon as the AC is turned on.

Yeh, well my AC is another issue. It leaks. Probably filling once ever week.
